AEON MALL (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (“AMC”), as corporate citizenship, has firmly committed to socially accountable business practices. One of our four core visions is “To be the icon of Cambodia: loved by the people. Through every employee effort, we will light up Cambodia’s future, contributing to economic development and higher standard of living. AMC will introduce updated worldwide knowledge and trends through our platform. We will give back to the society by promoting education and culture of environmental responsibility through CSR activities”. In line with this vision, we have engaged in various activities to enhance the quality of community life and the environment in Cambodia. The activities that we have involved, including but not limited to the following:
1. Blood Donation
AMC has been cooperated with National Blood Transfusion Center Cambodia in the purpose of reaching out more volunteers to donate blood saving the in-need patients in the hospitals. This activity is so-called “Blood Donation” which is conducted at both AEON MALL Phnom Penh and AEON MALL Sen Sok City. Even though in 2020 Cambodia got impact from the world pandemic illness, Covid-19, still many donors keep continue to contribute numerous blood bags to the organization for good faith of the nation.
2. Clean & Green Day
Clean & Green Day is one among many activities of AMC to help boosting more green environment and promoting a better social climate around the shopping malls as well as the neighborhood. It is held on every 11th of the month and is participated by the employees of malls and specialty stores to carry out such campaign along the sidewalks, parks, and the nearby areas of the shopping malls.
3. Tree Planting Campaign
To fulfill the responsibility to the society and to reduce the negative impacts on the environment, AEON MALL Cambodia joined hands with the group companies initiated the activity, which is known as “Tree Planting Campaign”, aiming to promote and protecting the life of wild species at the largest zoo in Cambodia, “Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre”. This contribution would bring boundless effects to the environment simultaneously creating habitants to biodiversity and generating greenwood for all kinds of living creatures.
Since its establishment in 1990, AEON Environmental Foundation has been engaged in forestation activities in various parts of Asia. In Cambodia, the foundation planted 12,366 trees with local citizens in the environs of Chau Srei Vivol Temple, the ruins of Angkor, in 2002, 2004, 2005, and from 2010 to 2011. From 2015 until 2017, in addition, the Foundation started a three-year tree-planting project in the Phnom Tamao Zoological and Wildlife Rescue Center located in the south of Phnom Penh, having planted 21,000 trees so far. The total number of the trees planted through our forestation effort in Japan and overseas, including those through AEON Hometown Forests project, a tree planting activity conducted at the opening of our retail stores, exceeded 10 million in 2013.
4. Promoting Public Service
Cambodia Post Office, Passport Center, Driving License
In the name of specialist shopping mall developer, the convenience of our people is the most priority. Hence, we are working with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, and Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia to provide public services such as national identity card and passport issuance, mail and parcel service, and driving license test and issuance.
5. Compliance Training
Training on Anti-Bribery Basic Rules
Since the release of Anti-Bribery Basic Rules on 26th December 2019, AMC conducted the Training on Anti-Bribery Basic Rules annually in order to strengthen staff members understanding regarding what acts are considered bribery and conduct the operations in accordance with the rules so that we can prevent acts that seek benefits through improper means such as bribery before they occur and act in accordance with the AEON Code of Conduct.
Training on AEON Code of Conduct
Training on AEON Code of Conduct has been conducted annually in order to strengthen all staff members the understanding in relation to AEON’s basic principles and what actions AEON people require to take in order to ensure the benefit of our “customers of the era ahead”. Each year, the training addresses different issues which all staff members should take into account.
6. Electric Vehicle Charging Station
To promote the environmental commitment and support greener transports that stimulate the spread of CO2 emission-free, the second mall of AEON MALL (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD., AEON MALL Sen Sok City, provides charging station for electric vehicles (EV), which is very essential for us responding to social responsibility as our core business. This station had established since AEON MALL Sen Sok City first officially opened in June 2018. Currently, only one lot for EV parking is available for this kind of vehicle because the demand in Cambodia market is limited. We are looking forward to contributing more to the local community.
